Help! Electrical Outside is Dead!

We are traveling through Texas (27°) and spent the night outside of Houston. This morning, the slides, awning, jacks and tank heaters will not work. They did last night when we got here. I’ve reset the pedestal, the breakers, check the gfis in the coach. The InCommand system works for everything else.

Is someone familiar with this issue? Seems like something tripped somewhere that I don’t know about. I would appreciate help.

All of the non functioning items are 12V. I would try unplugging from the pedestal, then disconnect the positive lead from the battery. Wait about 2 minutes and hook the battery back up. Then plug into the pedestal and try again.

I’ve already unplugged the pedestal several times. You think the battery needs to be disconnected too? Like a stuck relay??

sounds like a main fuse has blown.
or main CB

what voltage and current draw can you read at the battery?

If you follow the + battery cable from the battery terminal, it will go to either two or three "12VDC mini-breakers". If NOTHING 12 volts is being powered, I'd highly suspect that one of those circuit breakers has failed.

I believe that the slide motors, landing gear and tank heaters wiring connections were recently changed by Keystone. They used to be connected at the converter/charger fuse bank, but I think that due to problelms with people burning up their converter, wiring was changed to come directly off the battery through a DC circuit breaker... If that breaker fails, those "heavy amp systems" stop working.

Check both sides of each DC mini-breaker with a voltmeter or a test light. You "should" have power on both terminals on ALL the circuit breakers that connect to the battery + terminal.

Got it. Turns out there was a problem with the batter disconnect switch itself. Seems to have run the battery in the cold weather down to nothing. Fixed the switch and now we are heading to San Marcos, TX.

Battery still has no charge (I just checked after being on the road for an hour) I guess my truck doesn’t recharge. When we get there, I’m hoping shore power will get it back up in short order. Still cold out here.

Thanks, guys for the help. I’ll keep you posted how this works out. (Damn, it’s a brand new battery, too)

The charge wire from the truck to the rv battery is not heavy enough gauge to charge a dead battery in a short time. It's designed to keep a fully charged battery topped off while traveling.
Also if your "brand new" battery is the typical dealer installed hybrid marine cranking type battery they don't handle deep discharges well & has severely had its lifespan shortened by your current situation.
