Must have accessories

There are thousands of add on and types of accessories for campers. Those that have had a trailer for a while and have bought and used things that came with or you added for the camper. What are some of the must have accessories or things you acquired that are a must and very useful? What are some of the things you got that were just pure crap and to avoid?

A few I’m glade I purchased.
1. The quick connects for the fresh water, water filter and flush valve. Makes my life easier to just quick connect water hose to camper then try and screw the hose onto the valve.
2. Changed my waste hose from the standard twist on n lock to the cam type lock.
3. A good holder for the waste hose.
4. Add some motion lights to the steps for at night
5. Different size plastic containers for you cabinets to place stuff in so it doesn’t roll around.

One of the first things we did was to upgrade the horrible mattress. We added a 3" mattress topper and is now tolerable. We are looking at trading our TT for a larger unit and will most likely upgrade the mattress on the new one.

1. RV toilet paper
2. Bottle jack and cribbing to raise camper to change a tire
3. Electric drill and proper socket if you have scissor type stabilizers
4. Inline water filter and extra hose washers
5. A generic cheap tool kit (screwdrivers, hammer, channel locks, vise grips, etc.)
6. Duct tape
7. A multipack of sheet metal screws from Harbor Freight
8. 1/2" breaker bar and deep SAE sockets for lug nuts, nuts on my Andersen hitch and the anode on the water heater
9. 12VDC fuses in the sizes for direct replacement in your converter - I also carry spare breakers but have never used one.
10. Electrical tape
11. TPMS system
12. WiFi booster system and possibly a cell signal booster
13. DVDs of your favorite series to binge watch (we do NYPD Blue and others)

My advice is to carry everything that you can in the event if something goes wrong. If you carry the stuff you will never need it and if you don't you will. Kind of a cosmic law.

Many many things bought/added over the years. My top 10 pics of best spent money for the results in the order of my priority...

1.Replaced the absolute abismal OEM mattress.
2. Installed an EMS and 30 amp twist lock entrance eliminating the "mouse hole".
3. A quality water regulator connected to a 10" cartridge style water filter./ Fed via quality 5/8" "Never Kink" brand water holse.
4. Quality dump hoses and carrying tube under the frame.
5. TPMS - TST 507
6. Added a third electric stabilizer that matched the two OEM units. I stalled just forward of front axle.
7. I'll lump these together: Husky 4500 remote controlled power tongue jack, Level UP bluetooth leveling system, Anderson Levelers, X-Chocks, and quality rubber wheel chocks.
8. Replaced all exterior and interior incandescent lamps with LED lamps and or fixtures.
9. Step stabilizers for both steps and folding step platforms for both doors.
10. Telescoping flag pole with mount on the trailer tongue.

The list goes on but this is a start.

  • Set of size 1-3 square head screwdrivers
  • Couple of bottle jacks
  • Good quality pressure regulator
  • EMS - not just a surge protector
  • Extra length of sewer hose
  • Zero G drinking water hose
  • Flexible (space saver) general purpose hose
  • 'Y' adapter for hoses
  • Torque wrench/sockets/extensions (I'm a frequent lug nut checker)
  • TPMS
  • x2 on the mattress topper
