Wheel bearings ????

What is the tribal knowledge on when to inspect/clean and repack them.
Seems its all over the place from yearly, to over 10K mileage.

My Bullet (26 foot two axle) is 2 years old and maybe, at most, 2K of roadway under her.
I always check them with touch, never have I felt any heat.

Thanks all.

If it's 2 years old & packed from the factory I'd recommend checking & hand packing ASAP, the factory oft times is either very stingy with grease or totally opposite & filling the brake drums full of grease. After that you'll know for sure that they've been done correctly then if only towing a couple thousands miles a year every 2-3 years should be sufficient.

And once again, great advice from a knowledgeable member.

I defer to Danny & Chuckster; they are much more knowledgeable than I am.

But another perspective is my servicing professional's. Mary & my habit is to take two, maybe three, longer trips a year (e.g. this winter's SE WI to Nashville to Fort Walton Beach to Gulf Shores to Birmingham to Lexington back to SE WI). Gary's recommendation is to use a 4k mile threshold for inspection/repacking.

I agree with Danny and Chuck. The once a year interval can be used if you just worry about them and like "getting in there" to check them - it won't hurt a thing. To me the important thing is to do it the first time so you know what you've got vs trusting that it came from the factory in a perfect condition.....which would be a crapshoot. Once it is a known quantity mileage or time can be a guideline depending on how you travel. With 2k a year the above was good advice.
