New Tires

I am getting ready to replace the tires on my 2013 Keystone Cougar Xlite 21RBS. Camping world quoted me Duraturn ST 225 75 R15 Load rating D and Bob Sumerel ( A local Tire Shop) quoted me Carlisle Radial Trail CAR 2257515 E E BSW. I checked the web for reviews but not much there and what I found was mixed. I searched this site for Duraturn and found nothing. Any input would be appreciated.

Never heard of Duraturn tires, so if you travel away from your local area, you may not find anyone to service them if you have a problem with them.

Carlisle Radial Trail HD 225 75R15 LRE tires are $67 each at WalMart. Depending on the price you were quoted, you might consider buying them at WalMart and having them mounted/balanced elsewhere. WalMart does not jack or remove wheels from a trailer at almost all of their service centers, but they will install the tires (sometimes free) if you bring the wheels to them.

Bought our Carlisle HD's through Walmart and had them installed at Les Schwab. Saved about $25 a tire doing it that way. Had the TV tires rotated while we were there at $N/C

Don't know what a Duraturn tire is; never heard of them and I would not buy them. There are so many what I call "fringe" tire makers that I just won't deal with. I would stick with a reputable company making a quality tire.

The newer Radial Trail HD's have grown to have a great reputation on this forum and on most others. Carlisle for the win for sure.

When did you buy, and what is the DOT manufacture date on them? Seems current WM tires have a 0317 date possibily. Could be WM bought a whole week or months production to get a killer deal.

If you have a Discount Tire close they will price match Wal-Mart. That is what I did last spring and the set they ordered in for me was only 2 months old.

I'll agree on that because I just now called my local DT just to make sure, and they told me they would match Walmart prices as long as I had a quote from Walmart!
I gave an example of the 235/85/R16 E rated tire, someone posted on here somewhere they were $109 but DT has them for $143 and they said they would match the $109 price.

That might be correct. My Walmart rep indicated Carlisle tires he's getting in have a similar date. He did say they all came from the Alabama warehouse.
In my case I will be able to upgrade to the E tire from the D Trailer King. I certainly like that.

The WalMart website has the 235/85/R16 E rated tires for $95. Your price of $109 is $14 more than the website. That's another $56 savings if DT will price match as they told you they will. Here's the WalMart webpage. You can print that out as your "quote". It states shipping to the store is free. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Carlisle-...16-10/46054549

WalMart also has the same size in LRF (12 ply) for $94 per tire, also with free shipping: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Carlisle-...uded/194273051

That is what I did. I have had good luck with DT on my vehicles so i figured with the price match it was the best way to go. I also like how they would actually remove and reinstall trailer tries from the trailer, just makes life easier on me. Wal-Mart will not do this in our area. I stopped in with the trailer on a Friday afternoon and had 4 new tires installed in 30mins and was on my way to the campground.

Sorry I didn't verify the pricing, seen it posted and just used it as an example. Either way, they said they would match someone elses price as long as a quote from them was shown. Just mentioning that DT will match prices, at least in this area.

IF (that's a big word) DT will match WalMart pricing for you, that's great. The experience many have had is that DT won't match the pricing. They claim that the WalMart "customer price" is less than their "wholesale cost" and they refuse to price match. If your store will take the loss, I'd jump on the simplicity of "one stop shopping".... But, don't be disappointed if they look at the WalMart price and refuse to match it. Then, you'll be faced with what most of us faced: Buy one place and get them mounted at DT or pay the extra "upcharge".... For me, that upcharge was $368. (that's more than the price of the tires and mounting) I won't pay that kind of price for "one stop shopping".... Maybe you will, that's up to you.
