Yet another Lap Sealant question...
I've read through a ton of the posts on this forum to try and answer this question but I didn't see exactly what I'm looking for...
In 2 weeks I'll be picking up a 2016 Alpine 3601 with FULL BODY paint. When I was doing a pre-inspection of the roof I noticed the paint overlaps some of the dicor sealant on the front and rear caps. So my question is, in the future when I need to apply additional sealant to the joints, how do I properly apply the sealant to the painted areas? Will I need to scuff up the painted areas for the sealant to adhere to it? Will it adhere to the paint? Will I need to remove all of the paint? Just not sure so I thought I would ask now so I'll be prepared for the future. Thanks

The sealant will stick to everything, no worries.

Sure does, even stuff you don't want it to stick to LOL. Every try getting it out of clothing?

Thanks chuckster57
So, if I'm hearing you both correctly, when the time comes, simply clean the painted surface as well as the exposed lap sealant surface and re-apply sealant as necessary? Directly over both surfaces?

That's it! If you don't want to wash the whole roof, we use a rag and Fantastik cleaner.

I grew tired of trying to locate all of the areas that needed re-caulked. Bought a roll of 4" Eternabond. Taped the front and rear, and haven't worried since.

Eternabond tape requires sealing the edges to prevent peeling, so you end up touching up the Dicor anyway.
