Did I screw up big time?

When I winterized my TT, I blew out all the water lines, opened all the drains and took the anode out of my hot water heater to make sure it was drained.
But, I left the anode out - got busy doing other things and forgot about it. So..... my water heater has been opening to the world for the past two months. I'm going today to put the anode back in but I don't know if I caused an issue.

Any input?
Thanks for your knowledge.

Before you go, get 3/4" wire cleaning brush used for cleaning solder joints on copper tubing. The threads on the heater will most likely be rusty and the brush will help clean them and make threading the anode back in easier. I leave mine out every winter with no problems.

And put a little teflon tape on the threads, helps it from getting to be a bear to take out if and when the threads get corroded again.

I take anode out when winterize and leave hole open. When de winterize clean out tank with high velosity water tip and then put teflon on anode threads and put back in. As previously mentioned cleaning threads with wire brush some thing to consider. There is a post out there about cleaning HWT.
