GFI Problem

Asking for my camping buddy. I know a lot of you Montana owners we’re once class A owners. My buddy has a 2007 Fleetwood motor home. He’s lost power to all his gfi protected outlets in his bays. Replaced gfi outlet in the bathroom (it was bad) this didn’t help the bay outlets. We’re at a loss of what to do next. Any ideas I can pass along would be appreciated..

I know it’s a dumb question but he checked to make sure that the breaker wasn’t tripped right?

Did he/they wire the GFCI plug correctly? There's a side for the "line" meaning from the power source & the "load" going to the downstream plugs.

Tried a new GFI. Wouldn’t work. Tied the wires together to eliminate that GFI. Everything works. Still has. GFI by the sink so he figures he’s good. Going to run it by his electrician when he get home. Thanks for your help.

A GFCI protected plug is needed anywhere the user can come into contact with a ground....particularly outside. You initially mentioned the outlets in the bays; they should be gfi protected for that reason - just like the exterior receptacles of an RV. If that gfi plug protected those outlets he needs to replace it. Is he sure he didn't get the feed/load reversed?

Did your buddy purchase this rig or used? If the circuit in the garage is not protected by the sink GFI then it needs to be protected by a separate GFI. It's pretty straightforward. The line side on the GFCI is connected to the wire from the breaker. The load side gets connected to the wire from the other outlets.

Once the GFI is installed power must be supplied to reset it. A GFI will not reset if there is no power to it.
