Valve Question

Another trip to our local lake. This wasn't covered in the PDI nor did I see it before this weekend. I think it's the winterization antifreeze valve hooked to the pump. It's directly under water hookups but not the low point hoses. What do you think? I'm going to test my theory with some food died water in 2 weeks. Here are some pics of the valve and some random others. Our TV perfectly fills up kitchen window....

That looks like the fresh water tank drain valve.

I'm guessing that's the fresh water tank drain. I've never seen a line for winterizing via the pump with a valvenon it.

I opened it and nothing came out so thought it might be on other side of pump.

Do you have water in the fresh water tank?

I did when I turned the valve. I only spent 1-2 minutes as we were almost ready to leave when I saw it.

I don't believe it's an "antifreeze port"... My reasoning is that it's an "open valve" that can get all sorts of dirt and other stuff" in it. To then use it to "suck stuff into the water system and the water pump" ???? Probably one of the best ways to damage a pump diaphragm and contaminate a water system.

My guess, like others, is that it's the fresh water drain valve.

If it is a "antifreeze port" that was installed by a previous owner, I would remove it and not even consider using it, in the current configuration. It's a "direct route to destroy the pump and risk making your family sick.

Brand new. I'm pretty sure it's the drain valve.

It IS the fresh water tank drain valve. It also shouldn't take a couple of minutes to flow water. If you have water in the tank, unless the inlet is clogged by plastic pieces from installing the water lines to the tank, it should flow immediately.

AND If it is clogged by plastic pieces from installing the water lines, it's only a matter of time before the water pickup "sucks those plastic pieces" up the supply line and damages/stops your pump diaphragm from working and your water pump quits.....

Be "pre-emptive" and install a strainer on the pump inlet fitting. It'll be one of the "best $8 investments" you could make for your water system....

I have that exact filter on my pump. Had dealer send me a new pump under warranty as it sucked those pieces into it and Cleaning it out didn't solve the problem.

I found the fresh water drain to be extremely slow. Barely a trickle. Would run all night to drain only a half full water tank. I finally took a stiff wire and carefully inserted it up the valve and pushed something away from the hole inside the tank. Water poured out like it had in all my previous trailers. No idea what it was but had to be a more solid piece of something, not just plastic shavings. Anyway it has not happened again so far. Others more knowledgeable may have an idea on what. If you can't get a flow you might carefully try something like that.

Ha! That's why I don't drink that water. Seriously I think there is a piece of plastic that was cut out to make a hole for the outlet that gets sucked against the drain.
