Vent crank extension

A few of the tabs holding the screen up in my bathroom vent had snapped, so I had to do something about the screen hanging down. Also, the wife is fairly short and had trouble reaching the crank. So I made a new screen for it at ceiling level and used two 2” extensions and a longer crank to get it down below ceiling level. I epoxied the three sections together to eliminate the slop in them. I had to weld the supplied #8-32 screws together to make one long enough to secure the new extended crank handle.

Curious

Wondering how you fixed that screen, did you make a new surround for it?

Going to have to do something similar in the bathroom of our new to us Passport as you almost have to stand on the toilet to turn the fan on and off.

Yes, I made a new frame out Of 1/8” hardboard from Home Depot. It was already white on one side, so I only had to paint the edges. I fastened some bugscreen to the topside with double faced tape. I had to extend the wires to the new switch, as they were just a tad too short to reach. Time will tell how the hardboard frame holds up. If it deteriorates too much I will make another frame from either 1/8” aluminum or some type of plastic.

I kept the original two piece frame above the new one, but cut out most of the upper one where the screen and switch were mounted.

Javi, I had one of those that came in a Artic Fox. Every time I turned on I was so happy it was not the cheapo loud fan normally installed in a vent. I am paying extra for 2 in the next RV.
