Duplicate keys

I have two sets of keys with my Sprinter. I need to leave one set with the campground that stores it and I want a set each for me, my wife and a set for a lock box.

I tried searching for Keys and it found a bunch of posts, all with the "Keys"tone in them.

Where do you get keys made? Are they special and a dealer only thing?

Just spent a fortune putting Schlage keyless locks on my house/garages, not ready for that on my camper.

Thanks

I bought uncut blanks from my dealer, and cut them myself at the lumberyard I used to work at. Any hardware store should be able to cut them, a good locksmith should be able to have/do both.

Ace Hardware was able to make all keys for my camper except for the slam shut storage door lock. I had to get that key from Etrailer.com

You can order extra keys, already cut from the manufacturer. They are all numbered and easy to replace. If you've got the typical RV locksets, they are probably made by FasTec. Their website is: http://www.fastecindustrial.com/products/default.html

They do sell to the public and their customer service department is knowledgeable about all their products. Every time I've called, the first person I talked to had all the answers to all my questions. That's something unusual in today's web-based economy.

Thanks, just saw the recall for the door deadbolt lock as well and my keys happen to be listed in the recall. Next time I am at the camper I will do the test to see if my locks are affected by the recall.

No use ordering new keys right now...

No test, order new keys. It's very easy and they come with new cylinders. When I talked to them, I ordered them by a key number so all are the same. That number is on the key and the lock. Now 1 key fits all door locks the other the hatch locks. Well the outside shower is different, but never mistaken for a door key.

After our original entry door lock/latch failed, I installed a new assembly but of course it only came with two keys. I went on this site, found the key I needed and ordered replacements with the key code on the factory keys. Had new extra keys in about a week. https://www.easykeys.com/RV_Keys_Locks.aspx
