Water pump check valve??

Have 2010 Cougar XL 26RLE. Setting up for winter, but using also. Have insulated skirting, full utilities, heat tape on incoming city water. Did not want hose outside, so I hooked city water to low point drain. Drained fresh water tank, but it refilled itself. Is city water backfilling to fresh holding tank through water pump?? I don't want a full fresh tank with possibility of freezing...
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Water pump check valve??

We had the exact same thing happen in June, hooked up in park, water overflowing from fresh tank. After some thought, figured, like you did, that the check valve in the pump failed, which allowed water to flow to the fresh tank. Checked the area where the pump is, went to a local hardware store and picked up a 1/2" check valve, along with two sharkbite adapters, cut into the line feeding the pump and installed the check valve, and had no more problem. In the photo, the check valve is in the lower part of the photo, the power fill valve is above it, and you can see the white hose that goes to the fresh tank.

Re: Water pump check valve??

Thank you for the response.
Went to dealer today and mechanic thought that was problem also. He suggested plugging water pump hose to verify.
Gonna try that this weekend and will install check valve later.

Again, thank you for your reply. I'm a newbie to this, so your info is invaluable.
