Just Tried LED Bulbs ????

Just tried some LED bulbs, 42SMD, to replace the incandescent 921 bulbs. I know a great power saver, but no where near as bright. Guess i will have to same them and install when we will be out with no AC connection.

I just installed LED components in all the lights in my Cougar. We had previously installed the same components in our Springdale. Those worked well for the 3+ years we had the Springdale with no problems at all.

You might be interested in these. They are warm white (close to the same as incandescent lighting) and are as bright or brighter than 921 incandescent bulbs. They can be ordered individually for about $6 or in packs of 10 for about $3.50 each. Shipping is free, but it takes about 2 weeks for them to arrive from China. I've ordered from this Ebay supplier a number of times and have not had any problems.

The link for these is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10x-Warm-Whi...item27c6ff7cac

Please note that I have no interest of any kind with any LED supplier and have nothing to gain whether you buy here or any other place.

I installed these in my TT and they are as bright as the original 921's. Got a 10-pack of them (twice) from the E-Bay seller. They come from China with free shipping. Of the 20 I bought, 1 quit working after one season. I e-mailed the seller and he sent me a replacement for free. Naturally, my wife and I are very happy with these LED's.

Update: I see JRTJH posted info on the same bulb while I was drafting my post. So you now have 2 positive reviews for these bulbs from this seller.

Update2: Listing for 10-pack of lights: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-12V-Do...item27bfd094fa

JRTJH's LEDs are the ticket. LEDs that try to replicate the bulb shape are a waste of misdirected light. They're what I installed with great energy savings and improved lighting. They're "warm," but still whiter than incandescents. They'll make your old lights seem dingy.

Are they all just a plug-n-play?

Andymon,

Yes, they are plug-and-play.

I checked both vendors on that bulb and the 10 pack vendor does not show the correct adapter for the 921 base, the single pack vendor does ???

Thanks

This would be a good alternative to what was suggested above and it includes the 921 base:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/180697135274

This panel should put out around 285 lumens (individual 5050 SMDs put out 19 lumens based on one source I found) although the listing for this says 200. Regular 921's are 264 lumens. Even at 200 lumens, these panels would likely be a good equivalent. With regular bulbs you "lose" some of the light in the fixture since whereas with a panel it's directed solely downward and out the lens. As previously mentioned, lumens are not a perfect measurement, but it does give you an idea of how two bulbs/LEDs compare.

Attach them to your light fixture reflector with a little 3M foam tape. It doesn't need to be too much, just a little square in each corner. The thickness of the foam tape also helps keep the back of the board away from the metal reflector.

The panels tend to be good for the high ceiling lights, but because they are so directional I found they aren't as good for under-cabinet lights and other areas where you actually want some sideways broadcast of light. I put in some round ones (http://www.ebay.com/itm/181253837127) for my bathroom overhead, slide overhead, under my galley cabinets, and in the headboard nook in the bedroom

I've also ordered from this vendor before and had good luck.

Here is the seller's listing for the 10-pack with the correct adapter for the 921 base:

Just FYI, The one that JRTJH posted was for a 48x1210 SMD (~336 lumens), vs the one from gepaine was for 36x1210 SMD (~252 lumens). Either should be much brighter than a standard 921 bulb (~264 lumens) since it's all directed downard.

It's easy to mix things up or miss something since there's so much critical information packed in the description. When I did the original order for my trailer, I somehow managed to order a 4-pack of "white" paddle-style 921 replacements instead of the "warm white" ones I was originally intending.

EDIT:
Did a little more digging and found the expected output and draw of the various SMD chips.

1210 SMD - emit 7 lumens and consume approx .067W
3528 SMD - emit 6 lumens and consume approx .06W
5050 SMD - emit 18 lumens and consume .18W, actually 3 x 3528 LEDs combined into one package

LED lights

I purchased lights from m4products.com and was very pleased with how bright they were and they just plugged right in and recieved them right away. I found the 5050smd bulbs to be the best. the 5630 were not as bright. They are not cheap but they work 9.99 a bulb with discounts for volume.
