Many of those with 2 vehicles come to a park with a slot rented that will hold their RV and TV. Then they have a 2nd vehicle that has nowhere to park other than on "the grass" which is generally prohibited, in the street/drive - generally prohibited or snugging right up to our truck or trailer - a no no as well. In those situations (last one) it IS my place to determine what's going on. How does that go....a malfunction on your end doesn't make it an emergency on mine (not referencing anyone in particular).....nor does it mean I should make a bunch of concessions/accommodations for those that don't do their due diligence or are just inconsiderate. We have a Honda Accord chase vehicle. Our TV is a 2020 long bed dually F350 crew cab. Great TV, lousy Touring vehicle. We travel extensively typically looking for “base camps” as our destination where we can stay a month and tour the area. The Honda is way better suited for touring than is the truck and more economical as well.

We typically don't like to stay less than 2 weeks and prefer a few months ourselves. We tour, look, drive and walk extensively when we are camped as well. I use the truck since I don't have the time or patience to deal with a 2nd vehicle and way too many parks don't have near enough real estate to park all the vehicles and paraphernalia some folks bring - but they just "spread out" anyway.....right next to your table, pushing your sewer hose back under your trailer so they can spread right next to you (5' into your space) and the list goes on (endless seems like).

If you travel extensively looking for base camps I'm hoping that means looking for the ones that will accommodate the vehicles and other gear without pressing into other people's space - a long bed dually CC takes up a lot of space just by itself so most camping spaces in a campground would be hard pressed to still have enough room for yet another vehicle unless some research was done beforehand to find "those" particular places. Good luck in finding them and having fun.

We usually spend the winter where it is warmer. Since we are staying for 2-3 months, we take a second vehicle to drive while we are away. We use the second vehicle as a scout to find accessible gas stations and to pick up lunch while traveling. The campgrounds we use have plenty of space to park 2 vehicles or I will park my truck in the overflow lot.

Our second vehicle is a 21 year old 2 seater convertible. It is much more fun to drive with the top down than my truck and it gets 25-30 mpg. It is a little more effort getting there but I figure we break even considering the gas savings for not using my truck while we are camping over the winter.

We always inform all of the camps if our equipment whether we are staying for a month (or more) or for a night enroute to longer term destinations. In the one nighter realm, I often leave the truck attached to the trailer. In any regards, we are sensitive to site “encroachment”.
