Running onan 5500 down going down road to power ac
How many of you will run your Cummins onan and two ac units going down the road. I am debating running it about the last hour before we get to site on those brutally hot days to cool the coach down. Pros and cons ?

I have heard of people doing it. Since yours is onboard, there is no danger from a shore cord hanging out in the breeze.

We have done it many times with both or Raptor and with this Suites. No reason not to.

We had a motorhome with an onboard generator. It worked "flawlessly" while in the campground, always overheated when used while driving....
Come to find out, the lower baffle on the enclosure had been bent "somewhere along the line"... Dealer said, not him, I never hit or ran over anything, manufacturer said, "Not us either".... Nobody would claim damage responsibility...
Long story short, after repairing the baffle, cooling air was restored and the generator worked OK while driving....
So, it sounds like you haven't tried it yet, so I'd urge, when you do, for the first couple of hours of towing with the generator running, just check occasionally to make sure that the "air cooled generator" is getting "cooling air".....

Don't see much difference than running the furnace while traveling which I did a good many times traveling in cold weather.

Well, no. That's a dramatically different scenario. Running an internal combustion engine is way different than having an open source propane flame going.

I run the Genny lots for Ac. One time I did have it die do to flooding. Tool a bit to cough out the extra fuel and exhaust. Fired back up and continued on.

Well OK! Meaning no issue with running the genny!
But I would/have/will run the generator w/ ac OR the furnace while traveling as needed.
Also run the fridge with an open flame on LP while traveling for over 40 years without issue.

In our previous motorhome I ran the generator a lot to supplement the dash A/C. Never an issue.
I'm assuming your gen is propane powered. I would be aware of how long I ran the gen and how much propane it was using.

We commonly run 2 of the 3 AC units on our Raptor to "pre-cool" the rig before stopping on a really hot day. No issues.
