Probably closer to the truth is that they are waiting for a shipment of metal from their supplier. The mills have reduced their allocations and dropped all their tier one and tier 2 customers.
One mill has FIRED all but 13 of its customers.
We are currently working on shipments of sheet stock for delivery in December and are now receiving orders that we purchased in February and March.

The shortages are not limited to metal, they are affecting pretty much all materials. I'm just affected to a greater extent by the metal and so have more information about that. However, we're also experiencing shortages of sheetrock and poly plastics.

Try buying a sheet of OSB or Plywood... What was $7.50 last year is $35 at Lowe's today.... They say, "But we can't get it from our normal supplier and this is the price they charge us." I don't think they're lying about it, it is a different mill stamp on the OSB.

5/8" OSB (same thickness as many travel trailer "sturdi-floor" systems) is $48 per sheet. What used to cost Keystone $50 to build a floor in a 26' trailer now costs them $300-400 depending on supplier contracts. Add the costs of 3/8" OSB to sheet the roof decking and we're looking at $1000 increase in materials for the floor/roof and that doesn't include interior walls or cupboard materials ... If you can "imagine the MSRP on a 2022 model..... They are going to be introduced at RV dealers nationwide in the next 4 weeks....

And, don't take your trailer to Home Depot to buy 4x6x20 foot pressure treated timbers.... WHEW !!!!! We built out house for less than the price of 20 timbers <+

Tell me.... I just had 353 foot of 6 foot Cedar and Redwood fence replaced...

But we currently use 40,000 pounds of 5/8" sheetrock every two weeks and 40,000 pounds of 18 gage 304 #4 finish sheet a month plus another couple of truck loads of various metals each month.. it's nuts

You ought to see our bill at the pallet builder...
