television stations
Hi all,
This past weekend family and I camped at Thompson speedway in CT (crew chief for a race team). Kids wanted to watch tv, raised the antenna and nothing. Moved it around and still nothing. Every time time we go out we get the cable hookup. So we never really noticed before. I removed the radio/dvd player and found that the antenna cable was not hooked up to anything. I plugged it in and still nothing. Any other ideas that I can try.
Thank you for any help, Jay

Make sure your booster is turned on. Its a little button on the antenna jack, will turn on green light when working.

Where would that be? The tv in the living area doesn't have a a button. There is a switch or something in the kids bunk room, but we don't have a tv in that area yet.

"Newer" television?
Jay -
In your posting, you did not mention if you "resampled" the channels on the television. I think all of the flat screens have tuners which must "re-discover" the available channels when moved. The old days of turning the channel knob on the Zenith are gone!
I would guess that you need to go into the Menu of the television, select "Air"/"Antenna" and then select "Search for Channels". Actually, when you use cable, you should search for cable channels also - never know what you are missing!
When we go to our daughter's house in Oklahoma, we receive few television channels until we "resample". That's because the broadcast channels in Oklahoma are different than north Texas . . .
Ken also has good advice - Is the antenna booster on?

Ron,
yes we have done that as well. Scan the air/digital channels and nothing. Only time we get channels is when we hook up to a cable line at the campground.

The antenna booster switch that 66ken refers to is not located on the TV set. If you look on the wall behind the set, there should be a wall-mounted "socket"/plate that has an input for a 12v plug and will also have an antenna connection from your TV set to the wall plate. (The black antenna wire from your TV set goes into this plate). On the plate, there is a tiny black sliding switch which turns your booster on and off.

OK, I have that but it is not on the main tv in the camper it's in the kids room at the other end. It's on the ceiling above the clothes cabinet. We don't have a tv in there room yet. That switch works for all TVs?

My tv can spin from the bedroom to the living room. It gets plugged into an outlet in the wall behind the radio/dvd player. When i removed the radio i can only see the outlet no black switch.

really , I would of thought that would only work with a tv plugged into it or it would have been placed near the main tv or closer to where the antenna is on the roof. I will have to try it when i get home tonight. Thank you all for your help.

TV
Had similar issues in my 5er with not having the booster on or opposite, having it on when it should be off. YES, the single booster control works all 4 of my TV outlets. I think you have found your solution. Good luck

I turned the switch in the back room on , set the tv to search for channels. It came up with 11 channels. Thanks every one for the help.

Our 303TG has the switched refrenced in the back beedroom, as someone else pointed out it's typically a wall plate with a 12 volt "cigarrett outlet" and a small push button switch and an led light which illuminates when switched from cable to outside antenna. This controls all of the television cables.
Are you using a Television with a digital tuner? Many CG's have cable that converts the digital signal to analog that will work with analog tuners.
Also raise the antenna and look at the cable leading to it. A tree branch can hook on it and pull it out or break the cable.
If you have an I phone or Droid smart phone there is a great app that's free called "TV Antenna Helper" that will identify the channels available in the area AND tell you what direction to to point the antenna in.
