Re: Must-Have Modifications

we just used the central vacuum system for the first time, what a joke, minimal suction and no capacity.

purchased 3.5 gallon 4hp shop vac. an "O" ring on the hose and it fit in the the vacuum intake in the basement.

plug with wireless remote for 8 dollars.

now she hits the remote the system starts up much more suction and 3.5 gallons capacity. oh yes turned off the vac breaker so when she plugs in the hose the original vacuum wont start up.

easy to remove so I can use the shop vac, and the blower option on the shop vac for cleaning the top of the slide outs.

ordered EMS hard wire surge protector, no reason to temp anyone to take mine.

will add alot more as I use the unit.

great forum

Re: Must-Have Modifications

As a newbie, thanks to all for the posts. My new 195rb should be arriving any time now. Even though it'll be sitting until spring we're excited as #%&(@!

Before the maiden voyage I'm planning on dual 6v trojans, a Victron power meter, and a Progessive EMS-HW30C.

Again, there is a lot of real world knowledge in here, thanks for sharing!

Sounds like you're planning to do quite a bit of boondocking or dry camping? Otherwise 6V batteries are an unnecessary expense.

My original group 24 battery was barely adequate for a single overnight without shore power. Two, 6V GC batts (or at least a single group 27) should be minimum in these rigs.

Edit: BTW, if your trailer plug is hot with the TV key off (like mine) and you park overnight while still hitched, your TV battery is supplying power to the trailer. Something to check if you only have a single TV batt and it might be on the weak side. When in doubt, unplug the trailer for the overnight.

Re: Must-Have Modifications

You did well to make a Group 24 last a full overnight without shore power. On my previous trailer that had incandesent bulbs, a Group 31 only lasted about 4 hours when the campground lost power due to an evening storm. We never camp without an electrical hookup but Mother Nature taught me that night to switch to LED lights in the TT and do a better job conserving power those few times when it happens.

Re: Must-Have Modifications

The best mod I have done so far. All the setup stuff with power cord reel is on the driver side and all stuff for the camp site is on the passengers side. The pictures look like they are sagging but they are not, the are rated to hold 800 lbs. The tray is 96X26 and pulls out to 52 inches. Love IT!!

I guess you opened the bottom and thru-bolted the tray frames? I've been considering the same on the driver side but have not found the tray desired yet.
Also, the Montana you sold is on my wife's very short list if we upgrade. Did you sell for any special reason you did not like?

We used 2 carriage bots at each end though the floor with 2 1/2 washers in the area between the frame and outside of the 5er. It didn't require us to open up the bottom end. We ended using 1X4 under the tray to lift it up high enough to get to clear the lip of the opening. We also put 4 screws 1/3 way in that didn't go thought the floor.
