Hello

Hi,

Phil here from Greenville, SC.

got the 287 QBS in May, went on 3 trips so far. Love it.

Came from a smaller Toy hauler (Track&Trail) which we used less and less for racing, so a travel trailer camper it was.
Really enjoying the space and the features.

Cheers !

Phil

Welcome, and congrats on the new purchase.

Remember to slow down a little. The journey is just as rewarding as the destination. Build in time to enjoy the journey. Our best memories are not at the destination spots, but those events that happened unexpectedly or on a whim while traveling to the destination spot.

Thanks for the welcome guys!

yes, I've slowed down considerably, not just for the length and weight of the rig, also to make travel more enjoyable.

past two trips were backroads and highways, no interstate. took an hour longer, but no traffic, slightly slower, more scenery and way less traffic and aggravation.

even though i might go one hole up on the hitch and add another washer, the numbers looked good on the last trips to the scales (luckily only 5 min from my house).

towing experience has been pleasant so far and thanks to the average speed and the nature of the ecodiesel with tune, i was averaging 14.7-15 MPG

We might do one last trip this season , want to check out Creek fire Motor Ranch in Savannah, let's see if we can fit it in.

aside from that, i need to come up with a covering solution , since the rig will be parked in a corner of the property with tall trees. i've already washed the roof once, and don't wan to make that a regular thing for just the fallen leaves when parked. thinking about a suspended tarp setup, since i don't want to put up a permanent structure and also don't want a cover that touches the trailer.

but that will be a different thread.

Welcome from the TX Hill Country... my confusion never ends on model nomenclature. Why QBS and not BH like they used to use? Anyway, as far as covering, the consensus seems to be that putting one of those fitted covers causes condensation and more likely mo trouble than they are worth. The parking under trees does need some sort of protection. One of the guys living up near Austin was building a structure out of PVC and was going to attach a canvas cover. Not sure how that ever turned out but that much canvas would have me concerned about wind loading. You might want to reconsider a structure with tin roof but maybe someone can recall the Austin guy's shelter.

Phil, the guy and project that George references is from the Austin area. Regretfully his story doesn't have a happy ending, but you can follow the ill-fated journey here: https://www.keystoneforums.com/forum...shelter&page=4
And welcome to the funny farm (uh, forum) by the way!
