I bought 2 Fantastic fans for my motorhome recently. One of them worked fine the other had the same issue your having. I called Fantastic fans and they sent me an upgrade kit for the one with issues. They will ask for the model# and date of manufacture or serial # if you can provide it. Included was a new remote and new interior base plate. Be prepared to do some wiring, nothing major. You will not have to go onto the roof. I received mine in about a week.
