What Festus2 said about the cloroplast ...
I had one of those Pirit hoses, soon as the temps got up to the 50's or 60's the dang thing melted itself.
I use the regular heat tape from the hardware store.

I tape it to the hose with a long sprial wrap of electrical tape. The heat tape runs in a stright line. What I do differently from what you mentioned in you first post is this. I use the foam (like the pool noodles), with a 1.5" inside diameter. it gives the heat some place to work. Insulation doesn't work well unless it has room to breath. If you compress regular fiberglass insulation it dosen't do any good either. I tape the seam shut (I prefer Gorilla tape), and I also tape the joints of tube togather also. Takes about an hour to do a 25' hose. BE SURE THAT THE THERMOSTAT (Orange brick with raised Black cap), IS EXPOSED TO THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMPS. OR IT WON"T WORK!!!
Now I have to wait for the warm water to clear the lines before I can get a drink of cold water
