Drain valve handle

The handle for the galley tank on my 327 broke off. I t broke in a good spot as I still have the threads from the valve to attach to. Could go and buy a new one but would rather build one that is stronger and shorter. Is the thread on these valves 1/4-20?? would like to use a threaded rod coupler and some 1/4-20 threaded rod. Don't what to kill the theads on the valve with the wrong size.

Yes; they use 1/4-20 thread at least on my camper. I broke the gray water tank thread rod some time ago it was AL and hollow. I replaced it with 1/4-20 threaded rod and a couple of nuts to hold it tight, doubled nut the end so it would not vibrate off. I now carry two 1' long 1/4-20 threaded rods in my tool kit for repair if needed again.
