Welcome?

Advise:

1. Driveway camp a few nights before hitting the road.

2. Keep a notebook and pen to list items you want to pack that you might forget later.

3. Practice using everything with the camper at home before hitting the road. Know how everything works, how to add water, dump your tanks, run the furnace, everything about the refrigerator, stove, water heater(gas and electric), and the best way to pack and stow away everything you bring along.

4. Practice backing up and parking the camper before doing it for real in a campground. An open parking lot is great for this.

5. Be prepared for pleasant surprises ahead.

6. And take lots and lots of photos of everything in / on / under your camper for future reference later.

7. Most of all, have fun! And congrats!

Congats on the new travel trailer! With a camper that is 6 years old, the first thing I would check is the date code on the tires. They will usually age out before they wear out.

Set it up in your driveway and test everything. Might even camp in the driveway for a night to see what supplies you need. That is a big trailer. What are you pulling it with?

  • Make sure you have a true EMS (electrical management system), not just a cheap surge protector.
  • Always use a water pressure regulator, not just a flow restrictor.
  • Get a TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system).
  • Tires less than 5 years old - check date codes.

There, I just spent a bunch of your $$$ - these are all things that will improve your overall safety and provide protection for you and your rig for years.
