Pull Test Paid Off

Was hooking-up the 5th wheel getting ready to head home after a weekend of camping at Ft. Stevens State Park in Oregon. Hooked-up like normal, checked to make sure teeth were closed around the pin, did pull test. To my surprise the truck pulled away from the trailer.

Not sure what I did wrong, hooked-up again, did pull test and everything was fine. For all of you that have provided me with guidance over the last year, thank you. I would never had know to do a pull test without this forum. You saved me lots of stress and money.

I did see that in your sig...I was asking about the hitch in the truck...not the pinbox on the 5er.

Also would like to know type hitch you have. If I understand you correctly, you hooked up normally, claw was around king pin, safety pin was in?? and truck was able to pull away?? Was not aware that the safety pin can be inserted without the claw in the locked position around king pin? Interesting

Interested also as I have pulled over 20 miles with my Reese twin jaw! If the jaws shut behind the pin it is not going to open, even if the handle latch is not in place!!
I can do my pull test as soon as the jaws shut behind the pin.

I agree...as I also have a twin jaw (Revolution) and it will not open once the jaws close. You have to have all pressure off the jaws to pull the arm to open.
