Newbie here , buying a hideout 28bhs

HI everybody! I'm about to pull the trigger on a new 2017 hideout 28bhs. I'm just wondering if there are any common problem areas or things to look for ? I'm debating on not getting the extended warranty on it, I would love input on this as you are the experienced ones here !!!

Thanks !!!
Blair

Welcome to the forum from Southern MD. Ive not seen any specific issues with that model. You can do a search in the different forums and that might help.

Welcome to the forum. In a nut shell, extended warranties with new RVs come with annual maintenance obligations that must be performed by certified dealers. If you fail at completing any of these requirements, a warranty claim can be rejected, per the small print disclaimers.

For the amount of money these warranties cost, it may be financially prudent to "pass" on the warranty, put those savings into an "rv emergency repair fund" bank account, and contribute to that account periodically in preparation of a future fix.

Remember, RV appliances and components have independent warranties from their respective manufacturers, that are honored longer than the typical "1 year bumper to tongue" RV warranty. This can be a blessing if your Atwood refrigerator has a failure 2 years out of the RV warranty.

And if you never use your emergency repair fund, how nice will it be to have a sizable down payment on your next coach.

Just something to think about.

Welcome to the forum from Radium Hot Springs BC.
Enjoy that new Hideout and be sure to read the fine print on your extended warranty before putting out that amount of money.

Extended warranties?? That's something that each person determines based on their personal experience, tolerance for risk, mechanical ability, financial situation etc.

Are they worth it? Not at all....unless you have a $10,000 misfortune...that they would cover. You also should have RV insurance that would cover some things. The extended warranties also require some sort of inspection/repairs done by someone, usually a dealer, at set periods of time. If you don't want to do those then it would probably be a waste of money IMO. If you want to stay on top of things, usually use a dealer to do those things and keep records the warranty COULD prevent a very large dent in your pocketbook.....only you can decide......
