Smile Tow vehicle correct tire pressure?

I recently purchased a 2010 Keystone Cougar 27 RLSWE travel trailer. Towing with a 2010 Nissan Armada Titanium. On recent trip with my anti-sway bar on, I encountered a bit of wind and at 60 mph on hwy, started getting a lot of sway. I also noticed wear on the outside edge of my truck tires after this trip. The tires on my Armada were at the vehicle recommended pressure of 35 psi. I spoke with someone recently who told me that in order to eliminate the sway and the wear, I needed to inflate my tires to the max when towing the trailer (which is 50 psi for my SUV.) I have heard different reasons for what causes sway and not everyone agrees with this statement. Can someone confirm that I do indeed need to have my towing vehicle tires at the max pressure when towing the travel trailer? Thanks!

When towing you do need them aired to the max. But look at your tire. There are different tires with different ratings. Use what the sidewall of your tire says.

The door post sticker on your SUV lists recommended tire pressure for an unloaded vehicle. The weight limit on the tire is at the max. inflation. The tires will run cooler, squirm less and give better fuel mileage at max. inflation. Also try inflating the fronts a little more since a weight distributing hitch will add weight to the front axle also. I think you will find the ride improved while towing but may be a little stiff solo.

Thanks to everyone for the useful info! I'm hoping the 4-5 trips I have taken with the tires at the lower PSI have not put excess stress on my SUV or my trailer.
