2. Entry door

What your looking for is an ABC Combination type. Which should handle pretty much everything at the user level.

...oh, and, centrally located. Size.... That is a big question. "If' you are directly on top of a fire when it starts, you may be able to get it under control such as a stove top fire. There are too many variables to consider otherwise. Generally, if you can and you are capable give it a shot otherwise call 911. Even if you get it out, call 911. Evacuate the trailer and get safely away. Let the professionals deal with it. In closing here, it would most probably be best to contact your local Fire Dept for more or information pertaining to your situation.

Perhaps a Class B fire extinguisher in the kitchen area; useful for grease fires. Class C elsewhere as they are useful for fires with electrical involved. Both can be cleaned up fairly easily. A Class A extinguisher can make a mess; water or perhaps better, a clean agent. Useful for dry combustible materials. I was in the Mico VFD for 12 years and a TX State certified firefighter (guess I still may be certified but retired 9 years ago when I officially became a geezer).

An ABC is the best all around. By the door is a good spot. Trying to fight a fire in the small space of an RV interior is likely to end in tragedy. There are so many toxic fumes produced that you can quickly be overcome and collapse. I am not saying it’s a lost cause, but best practice is to just buy yourself enough time to get yourself, your family and pets out as quickly as possible

I have the one that came with the RV by the door. It’s a common location that is easy to get to, but to be honest, it’s not good for much more than looks. RVs are not fire friendly. If this thing ever starts to go, I’m focused more on getting things like the family and truck to a safe distance and letting the fire department and insurance deal with the rest. Yes, I may try to put out a small fire, but I’ve seen an rv go up, small doesn’t take long to become big and out of control.

Mount the fire extinuisher next to the entry door where it is easily accessible. I also have one in my tow vehicle behind the passenger seat.

I have witnessed a Class A motorhome go from a minor fire in the rear engine bay go to fully engulfed in less than 2 minutes. Extinguishers are required to be a within a certain distance from the entry door. IMO it’s there more as decoration, I’m not going to bother with it as it takes away from the precious few seconds you have to grab what’s valuable and get out.

BTW, I believe RVIA requires 2 exits..know them and test them on a regular basis.

As has been covered at least twice in the last two or three years, no fire extinguishers in the children's bedroom, period. Further, I can see zero need to have one in the adult bedroom either. Just get the hell out, stand back and call 911, in that order.

probably a good idea to explain to everyone how to use the emergency window exits before a camping trip…people tend to panic

Most of those escape windows were made for folks a lot less bulky than myself!!
The DW & I tried a fire drill once, our 5er had 3 exit windows, the 1 behind the couch neither of us could fit through or even easily get to, the bedroom exit was the same way too small, too awkward to get to & about 7' high most likely landing on your head, both those locations we'd both be found in the remains. The window at the end of the couch would be the best/only option if the entry door was blocked in that particular rv.
I would recommend all rv owners to look at these locations so you'd at least know where to aim for.
As already mentioned get out however/wherever possible, get far away, then call 911. Those fire extinguishers mounted in rvs are for "exit only", DO NOT attempt to put the fire out with that little thing, use it to escape.

^^^^I agree. When we got this trailer we did a quick "evacuation" test....that wouldn't be pretty. Trying to go head first will result in a broken neck; trying to get out feet first (a requirement to survive in our opinion) would require finding some kind of stool to get positioned and out prolonging the time in the trailer. Our determination is "get out the door"!! I keep the OE extinguisher by the door and a 4lb. Kidde Pro on either end of the trailer to hopefully get us out if required. In a worst case scenario I guess we would pitch puppy out a window then bail out head first and hope we could crawl away.

Even if you're a "skinny type" (like me) 6'2", 180 lbs, fitting through the RV escape window in the fifth wheel bedroom is not something you'd want to do. Go out "head first" and you're going to be "roasted beside the trailer while unconscious from the concussion caused by your head hitting the ground"... Go out feet first and you're going to be roasted beside the trailer from being unable to walk/run/escape caused by the broken leg/broken ankles from the fall to the ground......

RV Escape windows in fifth wheel bedrooms (in the upper level) are not conducive to most people getting out of the bedroom. Besides, smoke rises, so that area is going to be the first to fill with smoke, making "fiddling with a damn window" even more hazardous. For us, the plan is to crawl down the stairs to the entry door and "run like hell".....

We could get out our bedroom window if needed. The dresser is right in front of it so it’s be a situation of me going out feet first, hanging down from the window frame until my feet hit the ground, then helping my wife down. However, it’s 10’ away from the main door, I’m going out the door unless it is completely blocked off. If the fire was that bad, I think the adrenalin would have me going out that bedroom window like a gymnast.

With as much crap that my wife has in the closet, I’d be a crispy critter by the time I got to the front cap.

Hell fresh out high school the door or the wall of an rv would've been like an NFL quarterback & I was the linebacker, but that was 50 years ago, I now have difficulty with the key in the rv door.
