New in British Columbia - dumb question

I have just got a Bullet 248 RKS and am leaving Saturday for first trip. I have been researching on line lots of info on tank flushing but after looking under my trailer I am still confused.

I have a black tank flush on the "door" side and water inlets on the "slide" side. There is also a drain/flush connection at the left rear under the kitchen area but it seems to have only ONE valve handle.

I admit I don't see all that well (don't worry Im not the driver ha ha just the co-pilot) but have to ask .. is there another connection for the black tank? I couldn't see one anyplace. Don't laugh please.

It sounds like your dealer did not explain things to you very well.

The hose connector on the door side is what you hook a water hose to to rinse out the black tank.

On the slide side is probably a single 3" outlet that you hook the seeer hose to. There will be 2 seperate pull handles, one for the gray waste and one for black (toilet) waste. The handles may be colored to match. I have seen both handles on the slide side and I have seen the gray handle on the slide side and black handle on the door side. Hope this helps.

Enjoy your trip! I'm headed up the Alcan from Bozeman to Alaska in a few weeks with my Passport and am very excited.

aboard from Eastern PA.

We also have a 248 RKS. The front dump connection near the bathroom has both black and gray tanks. The color coded handles control the respective valves. The rear dump connection is gray water from the galley sink only.

To use the black tank rinser snake a water hose under the camper and hook to the rinse port inlet. I use a fresh water hose dedicated to dump operations. Open the black dump valve and turn on the water. You can close the dump valve and let the black tank fill with water but keep an eye on the level. You don't want a mess in the camper!

I black tank rinsed for the first time this past weekend (and only my second trip). I was amazed at the extra toilet paper that was flushed out. I have a clear elbow to connect between the sewer hose and camper drain.

You can find some great videos on how to use the rinser on YouTube.

While at home it won't hurt to hook up the rinser and check that the plumbing for it in the sink cabinet doesn't leak. And when winterizing later this year don't forget that line also needs to be blown out.

Boulder, congrat's on your purchase from the Memphis area. I might add that we have all been in your shoes: A new purchase and no experience. After a couple trips it will all be old hat. Also keep in mind that when you set up the first time and have any questions, don't be afraid to ask a couple people who might be next to you. One other bit of advice to go along with what has been said: It is imperative that you use only toilet paper specifically designed for RV use. Regular toilet paper will not "liquefy" enough and will clog your valve. We have found that Scott brand works exceptionally well and is sold at Wallworld. Thetford and Dometic certainly work, but feel like 100 grit sandpaper.
Be sure to let us know how your first trip goes.
