Dirtiest/Cleanest U.S. Beaches

Please don't shoot the messenger --- simply thought I'd share these articles since many of us enjoy camping at/near "the beach".

My family has a condo in Gulf Shores. The beaches are really nice, but it has change a lot in 21 years.

It would be interesting if they'd also do this for freshwater beaches and recreation areas.

One of the articles did include some "fresh water beaches" in the "dirtiest list":
Villa Angela State Park, Ohio, South Shore Beach, Wisconsin, North Point Marina North Beach, Illinois, and Eichelman Beach, Wisconsin. You're right, it would be nice to know which "fresh water beaches" are on the "cleanest list" as well..............

Gulf Shores, AL, Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key, Florida HAVE all changed a lot in the last 21 years...it's called HURRICANES!

I used to travel to Pensacola for work purposes during the 70's and 80's. Beautiful beaches! Haven't been there since, but for just beach PCola wins in my mind.

Waikiki, HI ain't bad either with Diamond Head in the background, but too many people.

For scenery/mountain views and wildllife, like otters and eagles, Outside Beach in Seldovia, AK takes the prize.

I don't know where they got their information and photos from but: Under the dirtiest beaches ... Beachwood beach west ?????? Beachwood does not have an ocean beach (may have come close during Sandy) it is on the Toms River with brackish water if not fresh. In the second photo in the second link shows the correct beach ...... the brown water is from cedar creeks that feed that river.
