Entry Deck
Because there are so many steps into our rig. You have to go up one or two steps just to open door, which then swings out such that you have to step back down just to get out of the way. All in all a pain. I have looked at lots of portables, some stationary, which would do as we are in the same place 7 months a year, but either very bulky or heavy. Finally just did my own from aluminum bleacher parts. Pics attached.
The parts came from various places through out this great nation, from ebay or amazon. Started out with 2"x10"x8' planks from Louisiana I think. Cut two into 4' sections to form the platform, held together on 1-1/2" angle iron (Home Depot) okay not so far away, and clamped together with aluminum deck clips from a company in Indiana. The angle iron is then lagged to a piece of cedar that holds the shelf bracket that is used to bolt the stair jacks to, this also came from Home Depot. The deck is held against the RV using flush mount brackets from Ace Hardware.
Stair jacks are cut in individual pieces then bolted together, using stove bolts. In my case, their are 5 steps total each just over 7" as my platform will be roughly 36" to the bottom of the door. The treads are bolted to an angle iron, which is bolted to the jack, again all using the previously mentioned clips. The stair treads are 40" long. The raw ends will all be covered with end caps that get pop rivoted on.
All that remains is assembly when I get to camp. Hope it all works.
