Well a DRW will future proof you if you decide to get a larger 5er in the future. DW and I full time and our 2016 Ram 3500 DRW CC LB is our only vehicle, will it fit in spaces like a Smart Car, heck no, but I can got through many drive troughs, parking garages and parking lots. Towing with a DRW is more stable. It has been said you can never have too much truck, that is mostly true.
Our 5er is just under 13,000#, we tow in the past with a 2001 Ram 2500, towed fine, felt stable, well no comparison to the new rig.
It would be nice to know what size 5er you are looking at.
