Step Light with Photo-sensor

My Sprinter does not have a step light, nor is it wired.

Any suggestions?

I would like a light that is Photo-sensor operated.

We,also have the same lite and a small yellow step lite. I can't recall if the step lite comes on with the motion lite or just with the lite switch. Doesn't matter the motion lite gives off so much lite the step light isn't needed.

most units use a yellow clearance light screwed to the vertical surface of the frame behind the step. I would suggest using an LED unit. As for a photocell it's difficult to get good results using one as the constant re-positioning of the camper may have the light stay on, or go not turn off until very late in the day due to shadows.
Good luck.

Amazon has some battery powered stick LED sensor lights that might do the job. If placed on the ceiling over the stairs it should work for going up or down, but going down is more critical.

New mod...Stair lights

For those without the energy to make up something, and looking for something inexpensive, locate the outlet to left or right of your steps, buy one of these inexpensive goodies :
then take off the clear guard, mount in that outside receptacle with the exposed LED facing towards the steps. Voila! Photocell controlled stair light....

Of course I'm too broke and cheap to buy something premade, so decided to see what I could come up with...was sure I had some junk laying around I could fix up into something nice...

I got to searching in the shed again, and found the ingredients for this little cake bake...

  • Exit light - gutted for led strip and 120V/277v transformer
  • Clear tube from an old fluorescent arctic lamp (removed lamp and cut tube to length for led circuit board and transformer to slide in)
  • Clear endcaps for cut tube, and some silicone caulk.
  • 10ft length of so cable to wire from new tube light to 120v hookup near
    converter.
  • Straps, and screws

And this is what it came out to look like once mounted and wired...Took pics at night for full effect. I worried the "Red" might be too intense, but it came out really cool looking, and very functional without blinding you!

Nice, but watch out for a line at the door with the red light!

My neighbor made that same comment, then followed up by telling me to get one of those wooden planks with "Welcome to Little Amsterdam - If window shopping, leave $5 in the jar" burned in to hang at the front while camping... My wife almost slapped him
