For those without the energy to make up something, and looking for something inexpensive, locate the outlet to left or right of your steps, buy one of these inexpensive goodies :
then take off the clear guard, mount in that outside receptacle with the exposed LED facing towards the steps. Voila! Photocell controlled stair light....
Of course I'm too broke and cheap to buy something premade, so decided to see what I could come up with...was sure I had some junk laying around I could fix up into something nice...
I got to searching in the shed again, and found the ingredients for this little cake bake...
- Exit light - gutted for led strip and 120V/277v transformer
- Clear tube from an old fluorescent arctic lamp (removed lamp and cut tube to length for led circuit board and transformer to slide in)
- Clear endcaps for cut tube, and some silicone caulk.
- 10ft length of so cable to wire from new tube light to 120v hookup near
converter.
- Straps, and screws
And this is what it came out to look like once mounted and wired...Took pics at night for full effect. I worried the "Red" might be too intense, but it came out really cool looking, and very functional without blinding you!
