Furnace Question

I turned the furnace (Atwood) on for the first time ever and after 5-10 minutes, the smoke alarm in the trailer went off. We bought the trailer last year and when we did our demo, it was 100 degrees outside, so we did not turn it on. Is this normal? Since it is "new" does it need to burn off anything? I tried to call the dealer, but they were not in. It was the smoke alarm and not the CO, or propane alarm that went off. Should I have the dealer look at it before I try to use it again?

Our`s did the same thing . It was the oil film burning off the duct work . We had the oil smell the first few time we used the furnace.

Mine sometimes has an odor when first fired up. Never used the one in my passport yet. Never set off smoke detector. My guess is smoke detector probably sensitive. Keep an eye on it and if it keeps doing it get it checked out.

x 3 Had a brief moment of panic untill I nealized what was happening. Planning on starting it up and letting it run for a while when it's unoccupied.

We did this. Just opened the windows/door and ran it for a bit to air it out.

I opened the windows and vents and turned on the furnace. I cycled it on and off for about and hour and it did not set off the alarm. Then I closed it up and turned it on, and the alarm did not go off. We were able to wake up to a warm camper. The dog appreciated it too!
Thanks everyone.
