Lost Gray Tank Dump Handle
Lost the pull handle to our gray tank on the drive to Gatlinburg from PA. Not surprised.....we took delivery of our new TT about 6 weeks ago and on our maiden voyage found the handle extremely loose and nearly off. Tightened it up and thought nothing more of it. This is our 4th (or 5th) trip with this TT and it worked its way loose and fell off this past weekend on the way here - TN. (Am over 50...can't seem to remember what I had for dinner yesterday let alone what we did weeks ago!! )
Will buy a new one and a spare but for now just switching the one handle back and forth or just pulling the stub. Was thinking about using pipe tape on the stub when installing the new arm....thinking that the tape will create some friction and prevent the arm from working loose.
Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Heat shrink over the tape - at least a half inch longer than the tape in both directions if possible.

Put some blue Threadlock on the threads and forget the spare.

chris199, Howdy;
Both the pipe tape and the heat shrink are made of teflon (think
non-stick frying pans), dang near frictionless.
If you don't want to buy t bottle of the blue thread locker (lock-tite),
you can use a dab of DW's nail polish on the threads then screw-on the handle.....Works fine and holds very well

SAABDOCTOR, Howdy;
Ya know any good sob stories he,he,he sorry couldn't help myself...
Ya know... if ya heat the rod after (or before, owner's choise), the
can melt the plastic threads and sort of 'weild' (sorta), the handle to the rod...
I bought a metal replacement, one of the sides broke off mine. Used the
nail polish method... Still there

I was thinking more of a wrap of vinyl electric tape enclosed and compressed by the heat shrink. I use that a lot over soldered wire joints to protect and strengthen the area, especially in external vehicular applications. Never moves and never comes loose.
