Bullet 287 side panel to front shell - crack forming

Howdy,

we just returned from our last trip and while i was getting ready to wash the trailer, i found a small crack between the front side panel and the front shell, right at the very top.

there has not been an impact or the like and i can't see any damage on surrounding parts.

i am in contact with the dealer right now, to see how they want to take care of this.

first instinct would be to caulk it up, but i rather have it fixed properly. not sure if the dealer has a better approach, since the side panel is a single piece.

let me try to get some pictures in here.

Anybody had the same issue?

Phil

Doesn't look like a crack to me. I personally would put some non-self leveling Dicor over the existing sealant.

yeah, not a crack per se, but the gap hasn't been there before, i don't know when it formed and how much water already got in.
that water could have lead to expansion of underlying wood structure and increased the gap. where does it stop and what does it mean for the adhesion between panel and shell?

the caulking / silicone is just loosely hanging there. similarly to these issues described here:
https://www.keystoneforums.com/forum...ad.php?t=46072

that sounds like bad caulk prep from the manufacturer or poor product choice for the application.

Corner molding is backing out. Take the screw cover (insert molding) off and see how many screws are loose or missing. Tighten up and use a good sealant on the seam.

Being a 2020, should be warranty repair.

Yes..just discovered gaps as I pulled my winter cover off. One side has a 1/4 inch gap about 12 inches in length between curved shell on the left front top and side panel. Right side front top has a smaller length separation and the gap is a smaller one also. Took a picture and showed to dealer service rep and he has me scheduled for an appointment. Since due to rain tomorrow, I put some Dicor over the gaps. Not too pretty. Bought in August of 2020.

John, looks like we met at the dealer up there

So far, mine is looking good, they said they've inserted longer screws and caulked up the gaps. at least now it's documented, should something happen down the road.

Regards,

Phil
