One other question for you....what Toy Hauler are you looking to purchase..more specifically, what is the GVWR of the trailer and the empty weight of the trailer? Two axles or a triple axle?

We really haven't decided other than we need a TH. I want to keep it 40' or under, ramp that's also a deck, triple axle, and 6 point leveling system instead of the 4 i have. 11' cargo space would work but if i don't lose too much living area in the main cabin i could go 13'. Looked at some fuzions online..... We're gonna go check out a couple RV dealers here in the twin cities saturday to get a little better idea.
Edit.....would like it to stay around 12000 to 13000 gvwr but am a little flexible......

OP, my truck has a payload almost identical to yours. My trailer gvw is almost identical to yours. That's the largest gvw trailer I want on the truck simply to maintain a margin of safety.
I'm similar to you in that I moved what I had from my last trailer into this one. That load generally weighed 12-1300lbs. I did remove some stuff as it had become redundant or not used. Probably added enough different stuff to make up for that. Did not have time to scale the new rig as I had to leave and come to FL.
In your initial post you said you intended to stay within the same length and weight of your current RV. If you do that, and don't have tons of stuff you're going to move over, you should be fine. Just keep that safety margin and the other numbers provided in mind. You will get very close to exceeding some of your limits if you decide to jump up in size or weight of the RV.

IMO keep the gvw of the new toy hauler the equivalent of what you have now. The toy hauler will hopefully (should) have the payload to take on the golf cart (hopefully). You'll be skating a fine line if you're not careful so get some scale readings empty, loaded without toys and with toys to see where you are and adjust accordingly. You've got all the numbers so be diligent in what you purchase....I doubt you want to be looking at a new truck too....

I agree with everything ya said! 12000lbs empty would be about as high as i want to go. I only carry about 500lbs cargo now with 2 generators and stuff......not including water. After a weekend of boondocking the tanks get a little heavy for the trip home so I'm careful what i load.....

Keep in mind that your current with a dry weight of 11,220 has a payload of around 2000 lbs. A toy hauler with a dry weight of 12000lbs might have a payload of 4000lbs. (off the top of my head) leading to a 16k gvw trailer. Toys in a toy hauler don't put the same % of weight on the pin as something in the front storage compartment but they still put a large portion of it there so be careful. When looking you might try to find something with a gvw similar to what you have now and forego looking at dry weights.

Most toy haulers have a higher pin weigh when empty so keep that in mind when shopping also.

I don't think this will answer your question but if I had to worry about every pound I loaded and then worry about exactly where I set it... I'd go buy a bigger truck or a lot smaller trailer...

Yeah, when you're right up at the edge of that envelope everything gets harder. Think about what would happen in the event of an unexpected hazard, like a deer jumping on the road in front of you, or a tire blow-out, etc.
Everyone need to understand and accept their level of risk.

We’re pretty much at the same payload comes to trucks. The new 2020 impacts has Lightened their pin weight by 350 pound that is a big deal. I’m at 7500 GVWR RR loaded with 96 gallons of diesel fuel, water full, Tools and and everything to go along with a three month trip . The garage is loaded with the Harley among other things. Going by the cat scales I have around 600 more pounds of pay loan.

Govols, Has all this confused you? Payload is the combined weight of stuff in your truck including passengers. You have a 4K lbs payload. The gross weight of your trailer is 15K lbs so as noted, the pin weight will be between 3K lbs and 3750 lbs. You don't have enough truck for the triple axle type toy hauler Keystone offers. Suggest the Carbon / Impact line. The Carbon model 36 has a real nice floor plan for a toy hauler (my opinion only) and a 12.6' garage @38' long with two bathrooms. Has a load capacity of 2900 lbs which should be plenty for a golf cart and the scooters.
If you really want the big boys, it is dually time! They are really kind of porky with most all way over what you can drag down the road comfortably. Last, when you decide what you want very carefully measure your golf cart's length. I have a trike and it is just a hair over 11' and that really means I would have to be careful with respect to closed garages. I have found that you just can't angle enough to get an 11' trike in a 10'6" garage.

Funny you should mention the carbon/impacts. Was looking at those on line about an hour ago. I like both lines.
So if my truck payload is 4k, minus my wife and i plus the hitch say 3400lbs left over. 25% of a 14k trailer is 3500. So bascically i can only get a 5er with a max load of 13500? If its fully loaded.

Keep in mind that those limits are just that - limits. How close you want to get to them (or go over) is a matter of personal risk management. Some will argue you want to have a safety margin in there. Some will say that safety margin is built into the limits already.
I don't have a trailer large enough to push the limits of my truck, so I can't really imagine the decisions you're having to make now. When I was young, I took lots of risk. As I get older, not so much. That's not to say risk is bad, it's just a personal decision.
You're doing the right thing by asking questions and thinking these things through now, before you buy. Good on you.

I've confused muself again......looking at the specs on the monty i have now.....
Dry Weight
11,220 lbs.
Payload Capacity
3,040 lbs.
GVWR
14,260 lbs.
Hitch Weight
2,260 lbs.
If i loaded it to the max 14k+ aren't i over the hitch weight using the 25% formula? 24% is 3500 then add hitch 3800. Truck payload is 4k. Guess i could leave the wife behind....😳
