Scissor Jack Rod

What is the best way to replace a bent threaded rod used to raise/lower a scissor jack?

Thanks.....

I don't think you can buy the screw rod separately. If you could, it would probably cost as much as the "cheap jacks" that are installed by Keystone.

Two options:

First, take the jack off the trailer, fully extend it so the screw rod is outside the jack and bend it back into alignment. then reinstall the jack on the trailer.

You can do the same thing "with the jack on the trailer" if you can extend the jack fully so the entire "bent part of the screw rod" is outside the jack legs.

Second, buy a set of "quality jacks" and install both of them on your trailer.

I'd opt for the first option on my Cougar.

Leonard, you probably need to read the answers on your other post. You have quite a problem.

We as a dealer can’t get that part. Best advise has been given. Replace it and while at it go bigger and better.

Replace the scissors STABILIZERS and stop using them to "jack up" the trailer, you'll not only destroy the stabilizers but you may end up twisting the trailer frame. Run the low side tires up on 2 x 6 boards (stack one on top of another if more height is needed) then run the stabilizer down until it's SNUG. Don't raise the trailer with the stabilizers!

Good idea, but remember they are neither jacks nor levelers, they are stabilizers....nothing more. You level with the wheels and tongue, then stabilize.
