One a/c not working

Hooked up power cord to the fifth wheel started rear a/c unit, ran fine but front would not start. Stat was lit up and seemed to respond. Checked power from post, only had one leg hot, connection was loose at back of RV. Took connector apart, found inner screws stripped. Put longer screws in, installed power cord. That restored second leg of power, front a/c started fine. So for any of you who find that only one of your a/c units work, be sure you have both legs hot to your RV.

You should consider installing an EMS in your RV. I installed the Surge guard in mine about a year ago. It will protect your rig from issues with the pedestal and also allows you to see the incoming line voltages per leg.Click image for larger version

Already have one plugged in at the post, don’t leave home without it

Just beware, the portable units do not see an issue with the shore cable or connections in the rig, only with issues on the source side of the EMS. The hardwired EMS units will see everything up to the EMS, so they will see a bad connection where the shore cable plugs into the rig. The portable EMS units are still much better than a simple surge arrestor unit.
