Avalanche Furniture

Our 290RL Avalanche has 2 recliners and a sofa. All those pieces are VERY heavy. We have a hard time moving the recliners into place to fasten down when moving. The couch does not have to be moved but we are hauling around a lot of unnecessary weight. All pieces will be replaced with much lighter furniture. Has anyone else done this? Thanks...Al

Albertr,

Many people have done exactly this! We are considering replacing our fold out couch with a futon (lighter and easier to use). Also replaced the queen mattress with a custom piece of foam. Made a big difference in both comfort and insulation.

We have an Alpine with same furniture. I agree - the recliners are ridiculously heavy. Not sure what floor plan you have, or what your needs are, but since it's just the two of us and I prefer the couch, we actually removed one recliner altogether.

This had the added advantage of allowing us to move the dining table nine inches to the rear of the Alpine as well as a few inches away from the wall, giving some much-needed elbow and knee room and making the dining area much more workable and comfortable.

We'll probably end up replacing the couch and the remaining recliner at some point. They're pretty ugly.
