Springdale shelves added to front wardrobes
I "borrowed" part of this installation from another post. I found that the wardrobes beside our bed were inadequate as we didn't pack too much clothing that required hangers and what we did pack could fit in the wardrobe beside the bathroom. In addition, the bottom half of my shirts ended up laying across the bottom of the storage area anyway. So I went to Lowes and had them cut a long shelf to 4 pieces (2 for each side) at the length I needed. I installed 4 L brackets to hold the shelf to the wall, then I simply used zip ties to hold the shelves from moving. I installed these upside down to prevent clothing from sliding. I also installed these against the slanted wall to ensure clothing couldn't fall off the back of the shelves. These wardrobes should be much more useful this year!

I like the concept, those are awkward spaces to fill. Not tall enough to even hang shirts. It is a area ripe for mods!

Nice job, we did the same thing except that we used wood for the shelving. You may find that the sharp cut ends of the wire shelving rubbing the finish off of the sides of the wardrobe. If so, Lowes sells small plastic caps for the cut ends with the wire shelving.

I thought about doing something like that but wasn't sure how thick the side walls were.

Thanks for the feedback. I will monitor the wall in case it scrapes. Some of the shelves aren't the full width based on Lowes cuts so I think those won't rub but I was concerned with possibly catching clothes on the sharp cuts. I did measure the walls and ensured that the screws with the L brackets wouldn't pierce the otherotherside. I think Iit was 3/4 of an inch or 1 inch - just measure yours. They seem pretty sturdy for clothing and I think we will find this to be very useful for our longer trips with more clothing.

Wallet14,
I hadn't noticed on your installation that you didn't have caps on the cut ends of your new shelves. At Lowe's, in the shelving department, there is a packet of rubber caps that slip on the cut ends to keep the sharp edges covered. They don't cost but about a buck a package and might be a way to keep something more expensive from being snagged on a barb.

I did the same mod only with wood. My wardrobes have a 1/2 brace along all four corners so I ran my screws into these supports instead of the thin wall paneling. The back L-brackets had to be bent to align with the angle of the front of the trailer. Worked perfect, the hardest part was matching the stain color of the trailer. I also did this mod to the cabinet next to the stove which was as tall as the counter but had no shelves.
Other mods I have done.
280 watts of solar (no more generator noise)
extra 12v outlets in the bedroom area.
Solar Powered refer fan
Electric Tongue jack
Assorted hangars in the front storage area for gear.

Very nice job. I did the same thing, but I used the adjustable shelf mounting brackets. I only put shelves in one closet though. But, on both closets I raised the hanging bar as high as I could get them, so that the shirts hung without touching the base of the cabinet. In the closet with the shelves I left the bar in, just in case we need more hanging room. Did any of that make sense?

Yep, it certainly does make sense. At least to me. But, you know everyone always likes to see pictures. Lots of pictures!

the holes are the original location of bar

Notice the adjustable shelf brackets, as well as the raised hang bar.

Your shelves look great. I love how the users of this forum jump right on topics and post pictures of their own versions of the mods. Very useful for future users and to improve upon our own mods.
