Air Compressor

Does anyone know of a 110 volt--12 volt combination air compressor. I need one for the 5th wheel and for the barn with 110 for lawn mowers etc. Thanks a lot and I hope I have this in the right forum.

Check out eBay. I found a Kobalt Electric 120 psi 12v or 120v portable air compressor on there for $87. However, I'd be skeptical of the performance of this unit in the 12v mode. Most 12v compressors are not good for anything much except balls, air mattresses, and other small, low pressure items. In order to get something in a 12v mode that will handle trailer and/or truck tires, you need a good quality unit and they are pricey.

I just have two different compressors. I found a 12V at good will for 5 bucks then I bought a small corded compressor at walmart for 55 bucks..
120V stays in the trailer, 12 V stays in the truck. 12V isn't good for too much other than inflating tires and blowing up our water toys.

the small compressor is very portable and works really well.

You may be better off getting a small contractors compressor and running it from an inverter. (I run mine from a 1000 watt installed close to the battery ... if I had it to do over I would have gone with a 2000 watt so I could use my Keurig while on the road. ) I would suggest at least a 1 gallon minimum storage tank on the compressor to keep up with the volume for filling high pressure tires. The problem with most 12V compressors is that they will not last long with the higher pressures tires that many of us have on our tow vehicles and trailers. I've only found one that is rated for 100% duty cycle and is proving to be reliable, but it was pricy.

I carry my air gun compressor when I travel if I need it I fire up the generator. of course my truck has one too. I have a air chuck mounted from the tank. as for a 12 volt. no. if you run an inverter im guessing you will need a 1000 to 1500 watt for a small compressor.
amps = watts/ volts so a inverter that has 1000 watts /120 = 8.3 amps
