First time seasonal camping

Hi all! This summer will be our first year with a seasonal campsite and really our first summer camping. We used to rent cabins every year and we tented it in our younger years. So we will mostly be at our camper on the weekends. When we leave to go home after the weekend is over what should our "To Do" list be? We can leave the camper plugged in but should we turn water off? Any other tips?

We shut off the water, bring in the awning, that's it.

First to the forum from a fellow Badger state resident.
As bmach said turn off the water and roll up the awning.
We went to a seasonal site 2 years ago and we love it, it allows us to use the trailer most every weekend we are not busy doing something else.
Its not for everyone, but for those of us that want to use the camper more or find ourselves going back to the same place most of the time it makes sense. Have fun

We also turn off the water heater and the furnace or a/c.

We too will be experiencing our first year as seasonal campers! Hello from fellow Wisconsinites!

I agree with turning off all of the items mentioned and rolling up the awning, or at least tilting it a bit for runoff.

We are camping in Door County... where will you be this year?

We are at Maple Heights in Lakewood, WI. We are from Two Rivers so it is about a 2 hour drive. Cannot wait for it to warm up a bit!

Another thing to keep in mind is leave your gas on and make sure your fridge is on auto so that if the power goes out you wont loose everything inside and have a big surprise when you return. Have fun.

All of the above mentioned is correct. We also make a food list of what we have so we know what to buy before we go back up to our camp site. Our only issue is that we never follow it so by the end of summer we have 6 months of food in our 5th wheel We also have a separate set of clothes that we leave up north except the ones that need washed. We have noticed that with most seasonal campers including ourselfs that by the end of summer they have so much stuff there that it's going to take several trips to bring everything home. Seasonal camping is not for everyone but we love it.

We were seasonal for 11years and loved it. As others said water, heat/ AC, water heater all off. We also shut off our gas. We lowered the awning and tied it down so everything under it would stay clean and dry during the week. We ended up with a hard/ solid awning so we did not have to do anything with that.

from fellow Wisconsites and seasonal campers.
I agree... not much more to do than roll up the awning and turn the water off. That's the beauty of it right? Now your Sunday can be used to enjoy another day of R&R
