Winter, where to go

The Southern USA seems to be having a 'cool' time of late.
Where do you suggest Canadians can enjoy some warmer weather?

When the temps drop to 65 in Maui, the locals start shivering and putting on sweaters. Coats are "mandatory" at 60* LOL

As for that ferry???? If you find it, let us know

MJB -

You live on Vancouver Island so you should know where that "someplace" is. It's Victoria of course and in a couple of days it will be warmer than parts of Texas. Save your $$$$. Stay home.

Hmmmmm High today in Key West was 81 with a low of 75. Averages this week are 80/74.

AND: That island, unlike Hawaii and Jamaica, there's a bridge to get there, no "swimming RV" required

You need one of these to get to Hawaii. A swimming RV, they do exist

The only really tropical place in the lower US is southern Florida and the Keys. That's a long, long ways from you. Come on down to Southern AZ. Sure we have some cools spells like this week but next week it will be back up in the mid-60's. Not bad to my way of thinking. There are very few days we can't hike, do outdoor sports, walk the dog or even have coffee on the porch.

The weather is all relative. Here in the desert valley of Arizona it's 38 this morning. When the sun comes up here it'll feel much warmer.
In my home state of Michigan it's 16 and snowing. It'll be hot here much sooner than back in Michigan.

Crash,

We aren't in Key West, at least not yet. I envy you getting there this early in the year. We are staying in the "tundra" through the holidays, then in Jan/Feb we will do all the snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling, then, once we're either "tired of playing" or run out of places to play in the snow, we're headed south. First stop will be in Louisiana to visit friends/relatives for a few days, then on to warmer places. Right now, we're not sure if that will be south Texas or Key West NAS. I guess a lot depends on the price of fuel as much as how fast things up here warm up. I don't plan to head back until the tulips are blooming, but DW does have some different thoughts that I'm probably going to have to listen to LOL

Enjoy your trip to the keys, it's going to be a LOT warmer there than here !!!!!

Festus2 is quite correct. North Dallas this morning is -10C (that's 14F in "American". ). "Sunny Vancouver", though, is a sweltering 1C (34F)!!! Maybe we need to head north!

RON,

HUSH yo' mouth !!!

Where you're at, the cold is "just a passing thing" Where we are (and in Vancouver) it "sticks around till we get sick of it" then Mother Nature gives us "just a little more" <sigh>

Enjoy your days inside, I'm betting nothing in Dallas/Fort Worth is moving today and probably not tomorrow either...... Stay warm, my friend.

John -

True, but it is not unusual for the coastal area of British Columbia to be warmer than Dallas! Festus2 is correct! Actually, DFW is moving along relatively well today. Friday afternoon and Saturday was another matter - there were over 300 semi-trucks stuck in a 6 mile stretch of I-35 north of Denton. True, we will warm up this week - highs in the 40s and 50s with lows in the 20s and 30s. It is the ice that is bad - and heavy!

But, I do know that Ironwood, Michigan is honored as the city that gets the most snowfall (on average) each year!

Unfortunately, still had to go to work! Ice and cold notwithstanding!

John & Ron -

Unfortunately, this doesn't happen nearly often enough! Victoria, on Vancouver Island, is even warmer in the winter than Vancouver. But that, I firmly believe, is the result of all the hot air coming out of the government Parliament buildings in downtown Victoria, our provincial capital.
