Kitchen backsplash

I removed the wallpaper border and installed a smart tile peel and stick backsplash, which I ordered form Home Depot online. The smart tiles are a very light gel tile that looks incredible and only took 20 minutes to install. I love the look and added color.

What is the brand? I want to look these things up! Are they pricey? So much nicer looking than the wallpaper they put up that looks like tile. Do you have to grout the tile after it is installed?

The color I used was called Idaho mosaic, it was the only color that looked like glass tile. The only colors are more solid. You can see all of them at www.thesmarttiles.com. They costs about $45 for 6 10 inch squares, some colors are more than others. I used 11. I went 1.5 sheets high. No morar, just peel the backing and stick. Used a pair of scissors to trim around the window. Very easy to do. I am doing white subway tiles in the bathroom next.

Did you actually try to cook with the tiles installed or at least leave your trailer under the sun? I once experimented with similar but heavier material; it stuck initially but later everything peeled off...

It's only been on for a couple of weeks. We went on a 5 day trip last week and had no problems with peeling. They did get pretty warm while cooking, but held up.

Great Job! Thank you for posting as my wife plans to do the same to our camper and it was good to get an idea what it would look like before we proceeded. Have to say dull steam ahead on this idea!

Are they actually tiles? Our kitchen is part of our slide, I would love to do something like this but the weight would be an issue.

Smart tile trend is spreading!

We heard and saw how attractive and practical Smart Tile is and joined the crowd! Here is our just completed backsplash in our 333MKS Cougar. I think this lightweight alternative to the real thing is the way to go! Cost was $120

That's a pretty cool set up. I do have one question though, why is the stove mounted on the ceiling ?

It's out of the way up there on the ceiling. Harder to boil water though

We have had the smart tiles for about 1 year in our 5th wheel. No issues with peeling yet. They look the same as the day we put them up. Took us about 45 minutes. Yes, they cut just like really thick wall paper.....they stick just like those command strips to the wall. While they say you can remove them we have had no reason to. While installing we did have to change or move a few tiles around which was no big deal. Just pull the tile and move locations and press again into the new location.
Our kitchen is located in a slideout....no problems with added weight. Might be 1 lbs. added in the 10 tiles we had to use. Heck we have more in kitchen gagets than this weights. There is no grout....no fuss, no mess. Literally just measure....cut and trim the tile with a pair of scissors...peel the back off of the tile....and press on. Pretty slick.
We have cooked with these in....and no issue.....we have had warm days....(remember the Pacific Northwest is not known for its warmth) so maybe 90 degrees and no issues. Alittle expensive however, I'd suggest these for anyone.
