Storage solutions

I’m beginning to realize my storage compartment is starting to look like a flea market vendor table ... to avoid making another series of rash purchases...what do you guys use for storage bins? Totes? Etc to keep the basement storage compartment looking tidy and organized?..I have tools and supplies ..just got delivered my scrim tape and roof tape today...want to turn over a new leaf and look like I got my sh&$ together...any advice appreciated

I have the appropriate sized totes from Lowes/Home depot for each of the the following categories; RV repair tools/accessories. RV Electrical items. Fresh Water hoses and pressure regulator and other fresh water hookup accessories. Sewer hoses and fittings. Black tank flush hose. Leveling blocks and wheels chocks. 5 bins total.

I use plastic totes of various sizes and shapes. I only use those that have the locking handles on the ends. I carry 3 (I believe) about 2' x 4' x 8" hinged in the middle. They have rollers on one end and dents in the top so that they are stackable. Those carry my sewer equipment, spare parts and equipment (scrim tape/spare regulator/caulk gun/caulk/etc. etc. I carry a rectangular taller box to carry my fresh water "stuff". One for my Blackstone "stuff", one for my smoker "stuff" and a bbq box. Great IMO and they've worked well for us.

I guess with totes with lids you can leave your sewer fittings in the storage compartment?.. I’ve been keeping those in my pickup truck in a bucket because I didn’t want any moisture in my storage area ..also keep my freshwater hoses in my truck while going between campgrounds.

I use laundry baskets with 50 gal trash liners for the sewer stuff. It dries out and won’t drip. Another one for fresh water, just drain the water out as i coil the hose and screw the ends together.

For the sewer hoses I have caps for all the ends so they are sealed when stowed, nothing is left open.

Our 5er has a small basement, we have several clear tots of various sizes that allow us to very efficiently use our limited space.

NO WAY for us, we have a 5" vinyl fence post under the 5er, it will hold all the stinky slinky and fittings. None of that stuff goes in our basement!

When placing the slinky hose(s) with caps and fittings in the tote it is done outside the RV and the totes are sealed before they ever get inside. No smell, no mess....no nothing. I've climbed under my last RV trying to place/remove a slinky when there's absolutely no need. To each his own.

I cut a piece of 5" vinyl gutter to fit inside my "fence post cover" to serve as a tray to carry the sewer hose. It makes it much easier to get the hose into the storage, it also helps getting it out of storage. Now, rather than sliding the hose into the compartment, I just lay it in the tray and slide the tray into the fence post cover.

Two things,
#1. I don't have the space to spare in the basement, not sure how big your tote is, I just don't want to waist space.

#2. If I had a larger basement I would still keep in the fence post, easy and takes none of the dry storage in the basement. I get two 10' lengths of hose, a 45 clear elbow, a 90 degree solid elbow, and the Rinofelx clear elbow. I don't care how sealed just don't want sewer stuff with the chairs.
