Interior Stairs

Good Morning All,

There are 3 stairs leading up to bathroom and bedroom in our 5th wheel. They squeak like you are stepping on a cats tail when using them. I asked Camping World / Keystone to investigate and cover under warranty. It was denied because it is over 90 days since purchase.

This seems like it could be an easy fix and may not be worth the fight. Any pointers from the group on what to look for and how to repair would be appreciated.

Can you access the bottom side from the basement? If so the screws anchoring them may have just come loose. You can add screws if needed.

I completely pulled our 3 stairs apart in our Sprinter to add step lights. It’s not difficult and shouldn’t take a lot of effort.

Take the stair tread off first and then you will have access to the entire 2x4 stringers. There were screws in the carpet that I had to feel for and some I could see.

I would start by tightening all the screws and then adding shims if needed.
