Garage Walls

2020 raptor 429

Looking to secure some things to the wall in garage.

Anyone know:

-What is wall material? And thickness?

-Are studs aluminum or wood?

-Any documents that show layout of structure inside wall?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum

Your framing is aluminum, and there are no schematics showing them. On a cool dewy morning, moisture will “stick” to the filon exterior and you’ll be able to see the skeleton. Your walls are vacuum bonded, meaning the outside and inside walls make up the “bread” and styrofoam and framing make up the peanut butter and jelly. It’s put under vacuum and the adhesive is activated.

What are you trying to attach to the walls?

Thank you!!

We don’t get many cool mornings in Texas right now,

I’m looking to stand up the side patio steps and bunk ladder up against the wall and secure them to it. (With steps standing on up on the floor and held upright)

I hear you! Very hot here but even worse is the smoke.

If you look closely at the wall panels, if there is any vertical seam tape, that may indicate a stud. You can carefully peel the tape and look underneath.

Sounds good thanks!

Do you know if the wall material is attached to aluminum studs with screws?

No screws that I know of. Glue and staples are the industry standard.

Gotcha, any standard regarding aluminum stud size? Particularly the width of dimension I’ll be screwing in to (assuming I find studs)

Honestly don’t know, but I was to hazard a guess I would say 1”X2”
