331RL - Upgrade from Queen to King Bed

I'm wondering if the Queen bed in our 331RL can be upgraded to a King Size? I'm assuming that the main bed platform is the same for either size - and that the plywood mattress base with the gas cartridges that lifts up is the only thing that's different in size. Wondering if that part is available from Keystone to do an upgrade? Does anyone know or have any details? Any info is appreciated.

I don't know about your trailer specifically, but usually you're limited by the amount of space between the side tables on either side of the mattress as well as the space between the end of the mattress and the wall.

I have a King in mine. Mattress hags over the base a few inches on each side. Thinking I should widen it a bit when I put the foam mattress in.

Yep. It comes with a king or queen. But I'm thinking that the plywood "lid" that lifts up needs to be just a little bigger to accommodate the king mattress. I dunno if Keystone uses the same lid for king or queen.

Yep, current plywood deck likely too narrow. We went the other way. Ours came with a King so I removed the deck and cut it down for a Queen so we could enjoy more floor space.

If your current plywood deck is sized for a Queen it will be too small for a King...by at least 8 inches depending on how much overhang you want to allow on the mattress. I would think about going 12" wider myself. The base itself will be fine.

measure the width of the current platform. measure if there is any additional width available between the side tables, then make sure a wider bed will not interfere with anything else except cut down distance between the edge of the bed and any walls, etc.

You can make the platform wider by buying a couple of 4x8' 3/4" plywood for about $40 and simply replace the current platform. We had a queen and had a total of 6" I could expand without cutting down the side access. We ordered a 10" foam mattress in Olympic King (6" wider than queen, 6" narrower than a king). Fits beautifully and solved the problem. Mattress was less than $700 and it better than our Themperpedic in the house. You can order a full width king and have them cut out the room for the side tables if you have space on the sides. We ordered from MattressInsider.com and they were wonderful to work with (I am not associated with them in any manner).

Very easy to enlarge your bed to a size that fits for you. Good luck.
