well just got back from

Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
Spent 6 nights camping at the River Plantation RV park. right off the parkway between Sevierville and Pigeon Forge.
A nice campground we have used before and will use again. NOT in the hustle of Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg.
The wife and I made my birthday week a week of camping. This was a big one for me 60 years old. And we had a blast.
Only the dogs were with us. Had creekside spot and just enjoyed the week doing the things around the area. ONE day in the Smokey Mountains and Cades Cove area. Around Townsend and one night in Galinburg, my daughter goes to college across the mountain in Cullowhee(WCU) so she and her roommate drove over and we had supper together for my BD.
Did one of Alpine slide things and that was kinda cool.
But overall just chilled around the campground and it was a well-deserved break from work and life. We had not done anything since Thanksgiving week. no time off from work other than the 2 holiday, days.
BUT as far as the area goes it would be hard pressed to find many signs of the major fire they had back a few months ago. Some if you know where to look, but so much being built up around the area you just would not know.
The park had some fire and flood damage if you have been before you would notice it.
Just had to brag on the camper and the truck too. Everything went off fine for the first trip of the year. I had spent a fortune the week before on wheel bearings and a brake job on the camper but I felt so much better doing it.
Towing was easy and this backing the 5'ver into a site is getting easier each time we go out. Still, like as pull thru but..

Glad to read your post and glad you had a good time. Happy 60th! You've got all those great days ahead to look forward to. I told my wife I thought I was just catching my 2nd wind at 65....a year or so later I told her I might have been wrong....maybe I was just winded!

Happy to hear about Pigeon Forge. We've been to Sevierville but didn't get to spend any time and wanted to go back. Visited with a person while in FL and they said it was terrible in Pigeon Forge - I think they must have been there during the fire or right after. We were worried it was still a big mess but it sounds much better. Thanks.
