Seeing California Redwoods and an RV park

We are looking for a nice RV park in the Leggett, Garberville, Miranda area of California to see the giant redwoods and spend a couple days. Need two recommendations. First for a reasonable RV park with access for a 38 foot 5'ver and secondly which area would you recommend for viewing the trees. We are in the San Francisco area now and more or less headed to Weed with the stop in the Garberville area along the way.

When we went to RF, we stayed in Crescent City. The kids had a good time exploring the beach (to cold to swim) and each of them found sand dollars. There is also a restaurant at the end of the pier that had pretty good food, but the best part of that was the seals. The pier was loaded with them, had to be close to 1,000 of them. I don't know if it was the best place to see the Redwoods, but it was still very impressive with some great hiking trails. And yes we drove through the tree. We didn't take the RV, so I can't recommend anything there.

My wife did find a beautiful Redwood coffee table from a local shop that we probably paid too much for, but we really like it and it is a great conversation piece.

Last time we went to the redwoods we stayed at Harris Beach State Park just outside Brookings OR. It is about 10 miles north of the OR/CA border but is a beautiful state park with ocean access. It was well worth the short drive to the redwoods.

I am nor sure how far it is from the cities you mentioned tho.

We made reservations for a few nights at Richardson Grove just a few miles from Avenue of the Giants. Price was right and location seemed to be even better. Many thanks to all.

We stayed at Ancient Redwoods RV park south of Eureka last year. Along Avenue of the Giants. Basic, well kept park. Neat gift shop.
This year we stayed at Kamp Klamath RV park south of Crescent City. OK park, but watch out for the free range chickens!!

No DRW fittin' through that tree!

Nope, that was pre dually. I had the mirrors folded in and about 1-2" spare on each side. 3 people that were behind me in line came around to the front of the tree and took pictures of me coming through. Nobody could believe I made it.

We are just waiting for a little daylight and going to pack it up here in Alema Campground and head north to Richardson. We will tour Avenue of the Giants tomorrow and I'll report back on the experience. Now I wish we had stuck Crescent City on our trip stops.....I'd like for all of us to see all the seals.

Where abou 100 miles south from shore line rv park Eureka northern redwoods . I hope the weather is nice enough to enjoy the park on the Harley . It's rain and wind at our casino camp area now . The Harley is grounded for today. There are 2 shore line parks will be at the crescent city park. Pm me if your in the area Notan

If you do make it to Crescent City and like to hike, last year we walked a trail in Jedidiah Smith State Park and also hiked the Fern Fall Trail/Boy Scout Tree Trail at Redwood National Park. Both of these places are just amazing if you want to be right in the middle of those magnificent trees. Both are in the Crescent City area. The drive from Eureka to Crescent City is spectacular. Don't miss Chart Room for dinner...great seafood!

Koko I went south to ureaka to the Harley dealer . The state parks are small and remolt beautiful beach with so many side roads . Jedidish trip is on my list for tomorrow. I have lucked out and caught nice weather. The fishing is excellent here around shore line.

No phone reception and no wifi kind of put the kibosh on my replies. We spent one day on the 32 mile drive through Avenue of the Giants and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all four of us. We regretfully followed our phone gps AND Garmin gps for our directions to Weed from Garberville. Both said that Alderpoint Road was correct. I am here to tell you it is NOT correct. We made 21 miles in an hour and 15 minutes until a fine young man in a white pickup made a life-threatening effort and pulled along side our truck and waved us down. (Well, maybe not life-threatening) He told us of our errors and pointed out an area we could turn around. We are now in Big Pine RV park in Crescent, Oregon. It is a very nice park and exceedingly fine people running the show. It is off to Crater Lake and the snow today.

I experienced the same thing in July at the rocky mt national forest in colorado the tourist where stopped on a windy cold 12 k ft elevation winding road watching Elk. The rangers where out trying to wave non concerned tourist. I no longer take trips during the summer brake.

I took a two-lane country road from Ferndale to Petrolia a number of years ago. You actually drive along the coast for awhile through farmland and back into the hills before reaching Petrolia. Very scenic. Don't try to tow on this road, though.
