Stowage for plates/cups while towing

Quick question from a newbie: When you guys tow, do you store all your plates/cups/utensils/dry goods in the kitchen cabinets, or do you pack away in a box or something until you arrive at your destination? Our roads suffer from frost heaves up here and suffice it to say they are not smooth. (I went to FL once and was literally blown away by how smooth their roads were!)

All of our plates/cups/etc are plastic so we're not concerned about breakage, but more so just wonder if putting and organizing our kitchen stuff prior to travel is a waste of time? If you do keep items in your cabinets, any tips/tricks to help stop them from moving?

Also, what about "decorative items" in the trailer (pics, etc). Anyone have any good ideas so that you don't have to tear down and resetup all the time?

We don't use plastic or paper and keep all of our "breakables" in the cupboards. We have a rear kitchen and the cupboards are at the very back so they are subject to more bounce than usual. Breakage has been very, very minimal. We do use "ScootGuard" as a shelf liner and I've installed an extra latch to keep the cupboard door from opening while travelling. We also throw a couch cushion in there as well as one in the microwave to keep the glass rotating plate from breaking.

Our wall-mounted clock stays on the wall but we do take down 1 small picture and stow it in a drawer when moving.

We would rather not spend time taking dishes out of boxes and putting them in cabinets or putting back stuff on the walls when we arrive at the campsite. I think you are right in describing it as a "waste of time". Your mileage may vary.

We mostly use paper plate and the like and the go in a cabinet. Food etc is in the pantry but we use bins in there. Bowls and the like are in another cabinet. Doors stay closed. We have a few things on the wall and they do ok for the most part, we use command strips/hooks. Good luck.

All of the plates, cups, utensils, cans, dry food, etc., etc., stay right where they go in the cupboards. Absolutely no need to pack them away when travelling. As for decorative items like pictures & clock, we hang them on a nail and use a little of the 3M Command strips at the bottom to keep them from bouncing around. It's worked for 30 or 40,000 miles of full-timing, now week-ending.

We leave our plates, cups, glasses in cupboards while traveling no problems store glass dish out of microwave under pillow on bed

We use the rubber shelf liner from the dollar store and pack extra rolls of paper towels where needed to keep things from moving. As for pictures, command hooks or Velcro work great! We even use Velcro to keep our two small lamps from moving so we can leave them in place while traveling.

Anything that will leak or break goes in a plastic tub in the respective cabinet. They take up space but for us that is better than cleaning up pancake syrup or broken glass.

Agree with all above. We also use lots of Ziploc bags. Anything that could spill - syrup, salsa, sugar, condiments - are in Ziplocs. They've saved us many times from big messes, more because of elevation changes than bouncing.

Agree with all of the above. We bought Magma nesting cookware, use both paper and Corelle plates/dishes etc. All bottom surfaces are covered with the non slip material available at Dollar store, Walmart, Lowes etc. Any cabinets with tall storage we use the little expandable bars to put in front of whatever it is to stop any forward movement. We do have a center kitchen so movement is mitigated somewhat. We have two pictures, both sitting on a counter in frames with the little support leg on top of the non slip material and they have never fallen over.

We put rubber drawer liners between our plates, other than that we do nothing. We have a rear kitchen and haven't had any problems.

We put shelf liner down and have wire stacker also with shelf liner to keep things in place.

Our camper kitchen is set up just like the house and stays that way. Only thing we pack is the coffee pot in the sink with a towel.

I bought a bunch of the little kiddie water wings on sale at the end of last summer. Use those to fill in spaces between stuff in the cabinets, then use velcro strips around cabinet handles to help hold them closed. For pictures on the walls, I use the Command velcro strips, so there is no need to remove them.

I can't stand trying to put all the plastic glasses upright in the tiny narrow two shelf cabinet, every time we pull into a CG. I don't know what else to do tho...no room for padding or anything. I do have that shelf liner on all shelves but the glasses just go haywire.

We buy these small blankets that you buy at the stores for under $5.00, when we go to move we just put them in the cabinets to keep stuff from moving around and zip tie the doors. Never have had a problem and its quick to just pull them out without packing all the plates and glasses.

Have to agree with Russ...

Some of this issue can be traced to the right hand pedal and the smoothness (or lack there of) applied to the steering wheel.
We never have anything on the floor and we seldom have anything scattered about in the cabinets. I do have the advantage of having hauled palatalized beer. One quickly learns to drive in and out of driveways slowly and to keep a "steady hand" on the wheel (no sudden, jerky movements). The 'easier' you use the throttle, steering and brakes, the more your 'cargo' stays where you put it.
